Hey Guys! Today was my first day of school here in Babylon Village, NY and I received some pretty good news. Our school runs a science research project for all grades 8-12 and im the only one in my grade level taking this course this year. Now even though I won't have anyone to talk to (besides my teacher) I have all of the grant money allotted to my grade level; this means I have about $600 to mess about with this year
.
Now that Im a sophomore I have to go to a couple science fairs so Im trying to brainstorm a project to do. My teacher already put the permits in for experiments involving reptiles, amphibians, and fish but I can also work with invertebrates and plants. I have till Columbus Day week to decide on my project so I still have a lot of time before I have to commit myself to anything. The only restrictions are so far:
1. Concerning space I can really only use aquariums up to 20 gallons and at most only 3-4 aquariums
2. Cant work with mammals or birds because they're considered "higher" animals
Im mostly leaning towards working with smaller fish (because of space requirements); invertebrates; or plants (carnivorous plants or trees) but Im still brainstorming so Im not set on anything yet. My teacher has a couple big science catalogs available to her so I have many things available to me (hormones, supplies). Just wanted to know if anyone has any ideas on what might be an interesting thing to focus on.
Cheers,
-Jack
