what filter do i need?

im planing on making my 60gallon tall tank into a salt tank, and im wondering what would be the best canister filter for this tank, i dont want to run a sump for that small of a tank so im looking into a larger canister filter that will do the job, im planing on live sand, some live rock, and 1 lion fish, and just maybe a little hard coral here and there. any ideas?
 
I would look into protein skimmers rather than canister filters. They will be much more useful for you, especially considering you want a lionfish. Make sure you get a lionfish that will not outgrow that aquarium, unless you plan on upgrading relatively soon.

stupid question, but are you saying if i get a protein skimmer i wont need a canister filter? my plans are to start small and work with it for a year before i go ahead with a large salt tank.
