What filter should I buy?

I'm filtering a 125g tank with 2 oscars and a common pleco. How much filtration do I need? Cost is a big factor in this decision so I was considering the Filstar XP 3, seems to be the most filtration for the lowest price. What filter would you recommend out of the list below? Any other suggestions are welcome.


Marineland C360:
-360gph
-recommended for tanks up to 100g in size
-$220

RENA Filstar XP 3:
-350gph
-recommended for tanks up to 175g in size
-$190

 Penn Plax Cascade 1000:
-265gph (I think)
-recommended for tanks up to 100g in size
-$145

Penn Plax Cascade 1200:
-315gph
-recommended for tanks up to 150g in size
-$210

Eheim 2217:
-264gph
-recommended for tanks up to 160g in size
-$200
 
I have an eheim 2215 and love it. I have it along with an ac110 and another canister on my 150. If you are going with a canister I would go with the eheim along with an AC110 for added filtration.
 
i've never owned any of the filters that you have listed. i use a fluval 405 and a fx5, but i'd reccomend an eheim based on my previous research on canister filters.

Personally I don't believe any of those filters would be able to properly filter your tank. The two better of the bunch, rena and eheim, will have no problem with the biological filtration. Mechanically speaking they will fall way short. You'd be better off with a pair of AC110s to start and then add a rena XP3 later on when you are financially able.
 
I like Eheim,but I have a 2217 on a 55.Probably overkill,but I would not want one to stand alone on a 125. I only paid $145 for mine shipped.You can get a XP3 for $110 at Foster's and Smith with the CK coupon code right now.So if you were considering spending $200 on a Eheim,why not get 2 XP3's for $220?

i have the same size tank with a Fx5 on it .. with 2 oscars a royal clown knife and a common plec .. works GREAT!!!!!!!

love it .. keeps the water plenty clean ..
