Ok, I have a 20 Gallon Long tank with 1 Red Devil, 1 Oscar, and 1 Senegal Bichir...

Its overstocked i know, but i cannot afford to upgrade anytime soon so i guess right now u could call it a growout tank lol.

I also have a regular 20 Gallon tank with 2 Red Blood Parrots (Mating Pair)

They both are running the same filter, (Tetra FS 30-60), but I just changed from gravel to PF Sand. I was wondering if i should add another filter, powerhead, air pump, etc... any ideas are open =)

Also both used to be planted tanks but the fish kept ripping them out of the ground, even with the sand in there so i got tired of messing it so I took them out...

Eheim classic series maybe an AC 110.. or a fluval *04 model

how big ur Oscar and senegalus?

u need to have some awesome filtration and a lot of water changes to keep them happy in a 20 gallon. i don't see why u bought them if u could not afford to upgrade soon..

well, i bought them because the LFS said they would be able to live in there happily... and they are all little babies. I would say senegal is maybe 5 inches but not too think... but he is nice and round dont get me wrong

and its not that i cant AFFORD, its that my mom wont let me get a bigger tank... she threw a fit when i bought my second tank lol... I was going to buy a 125G but she would s*** a brick

well the LFS are retarded, they dont know and/or dont care about the fish as long as u have ur wallet out....i learned that the same way u did... ahhaha..

u need a 55 gallon bar minimum for a single Oscar alone!!!

a 75 gallon would be more appropriate.

if i were u i would at least return the Oscar.... the sen will be ok for a while in a 20 gallon but not for life.

u must return the Oscar... or find a good home for it...

how big is the Oscar?

well thats exactly what u said in post # 1.... '' i cannot afford to upgrade anytime soon ''

anyways.. tell ur mom that its either fish or crack....no maybe as a last resort...

tell her u need a 55 gallon in order to keep ur fish alive. say its for education purposes and u will benefit academically by keeping the fish. tell her all about how u read about taking care of it. tell her how much it means to u, most likely she will let have a 55 gallon..

Alright, i will try that... and my oscar isnt very big... i would say maybe 3 to 4 inches =/

and also, are my blood parrots fine in that tank? I went to 3 diff stores, petland, petsmart, and exotic fish (LFS) and they all said they would be fine together alone in that tank

and if you were wondering why i am living with my mom i am only 16 lol

I have two Oscars in a 20 gallon long. They are both less than 3"

I am running a Aquaclear 50 and an Aquaclear 20.
