Hi..Im looking for a few suggestions. I have 5 frontosa which i bought as juveniles about a year ago. they are now 3.5-5" in size and really are starting to outgrow the tank. my tank is a Fluval osaka 260..its quite tall. Im not sure what fish to go with when i trade these frontosa in. what do you guys think would be suitable for my tank? thanks.

Aquarium size; 103cm long x 62cm high x 45cm wide
Volume 260 litres (56 gallons)

I know this isn't much help but a lot depends on what you like. Agreed it will be tight for the fronts...are you wanting a cichlid comm. type setup, a single fish, or a breeding pair?

Taller tanks look good planted with some angels. Most other cichlids will stay in the lower half of the tank leaving the top looking empty. Another option is to find a medium(5-6") cichlid and get a pair then fill out the empty space with a school of something such as lemon or emperor tetras.

I honestly dont know what id like...I have the opportunity to buy some blue angels at the minute. good price too. 10 for €40 or 6 for €30 I was going to buy 6 at 1-2" and hope i get at least one breeding pair. I also have a chocolate cichlid that is laying eggs every other week but i cant seem to find a suitable male.

Agrees with the planted tank idea! i have been thinking about this for a while. but its not cheap. the CO2 setup will cost about €300 over here.

angels and plants sound good.

Go with the Blue Angels. I did the same thing and these guys are amazing. They kind of remind me of saltwater fish. The blues are unreal. After getting mine I went ahead and got some Phinoys too and put them in another tank and wow. Never thought i would like Angels so much.

you dont really need CO2, just have good lighting and ferts and should be fine and for that small of a tank you could do one of those yeast CO2 systems if you really wanted to but i dont really think it will be necessary they may just grow a tiny bit slower

I don't have co2 on my 125 and my amazon swords do great plus angels like to lay eggs on the leAves. I have also heard you can do your own co2 with welding supplies for a fraction of the cost, I'm sure you can find something in the diy or planted forums. On my 20 I have the co2 system from hagen that uses yeast and sugar and I don't know how much it really made a difference until I started using seachems flourish excel which is supposedly an alternative to co2, once I started this my plants took of like wildfire. You can get a 2l of it for 3ound $35 and that will last several months.

That's actually 76 gallons or 287 litres if your measurements are correct. You could put just about any fish that won't get over 15-16" and isn't overly active in it. For more active fish, I wouldn't get anything that will get over 12".

angels with some other tank mates sound good, but maybe you could look into doing a lake malawi tank...with some mbuna.
