What fish for my new tank?

So i just found out my tank is not big enough for a Jardini my tank size is 5ft x 3ft x 1.5ft.

Just wondering what would be some nice fish and how many, I pretty much know most of the Americans, but im just not sure how many i could house, Just some ideas would be great, my lfs are dodo birds, they told me i could house 3 jardinis in my tank for life /facepalm.

I should add as well that im interested in jag and a oscar, So maybe some ideas to pair with these 2? ill be getting them all as babies.

Jags and oscars typically don't make good tank mates. I'd either build around Oscar or jag. With jags you can have a decent amount of other cichlids provided you get the right mixes of sex

I don't see how that'd be too small. 5 foot length isn't ideal but it'd definitely work with a 3ft width.
