I will Have a 540L Freshwater tank on Tuesday (Over here it's about 120g's). Yes I know it says '150g' in my signature, Just to lazy to edit it :) Anyway, back on topic, What type of fish could I put into this tank and how many could I put in to cycle it?

Also, If I use the instant bacterial stuff, How long on average would you say It would take to cycle the tank? 10-20 days? Thanks

For the fish you can choose many. I would suggest more larger ones. Like Lima Shovelnose, BGF, and others of similar size. But its totally up to you to choose the fish you want.

What i do is just fill up the tank, get it to the right parameters, let the filtration run a while, and then put the fish in.

'BGF'? What would be some fish that would be down in any ordinary Lfs? Would any live bearers do?

Kinda expensive for cycling fish don't u think??! Not too mention they are proned to dying...

Op: pick up 12-24 rosy red feeders (2$), fill ur tank up with water 70-80° make sure its dechlor, fire up filters, heater and bubbler, put the fish in, feed em 2x per day and test in 2 weeks, then do a 30% wc to bring down ammonia and nitrite and at 3 weeks u should start to read nitrates, when u do that means ur bb is established, so before putting ur show fish in, do a 50% wc to get levels to almost 0ppm. Keep testing water and do everyother day wc till nitrites and ammonia are zero, then maybe just once per week 50-40% wc to keep nitrates low when fish are in!

Make sure u have bio media (10-20$) in ur filter for the bb to house in and a good fw test kit, maybe api (30$)

Zebra danios are hardy enough but are small so you'll need a lot of them. On the plus side they aren't the longest loving fish so you don't have to get rid of them and since they are small the permanent stock will enjoy snacking on them

I also suggest zebra danio. I would get like 15 or so of them for a tank that big, because like said earlier they aren't very big. It's also fun to watch their interactions in a group setting while you wait for your tank to cycle.
