Yep, I love the groupers as well, won't be able to have one for a long time though. Gotta save that $$$$ up first... :nilly:

Most definitely!

It definitely lives up to the grouper name for sure. Mine ate whatever it could fit in it's mouth.

My sw wiped when the sump motor was off for a 4 day period and I lost my whole tank. My most poooooopy day of all my fish keeping experience, lost about $3000 or so in stock and corals.

Though if you have the room for one they are a great fish with grat personality and they only get better looking as they get bigger. Mine was about 10 inches long when the sump motor went out.

Damn! Sorry to hear about the sump :( how fast do they grow? is it like an oscar growth rate or much slower?

I would have to say much faster than an oscar depends on what you are feeding it.

Mine grew fast then slowed down for a bit and then started to do a real growth spurt.

Then the sump went down really sucked.

When it was alive was very entertaining to watch, one of those fish that interacted not just ate if you know what I mean.

I wish I had the money and the room to have one :(

They really don't move around much so if you get one really small(I have seen them as small as 1") you could keep it until it outgrew your tank. 180 gallons would be for the life of the animal.
