Alright everyone, i need some help here. I wasn't into cichlids at all until a buddy moved and i ended up with his fish mixed with the fish i already had. Its a mess now. i got all juvies between 1.75 and 2 inches. They are as follows. 2 Albino Zebras no idea about sex, 2 Kenyi one female i think and the other is maybe a hybrid or something else it has too many stripes. 1 Hongi not sure of sex. 1 Bumble Bee. i think female cuz it hasnt changed at all. 1 White Top Hara, male i think only cuz the guy at lfs said it was. 1 Blue Dolphin no idea about sex. 1 Yellow Tail Acei no idea about sex. And finally the one that makes me scratch my head when i look at it. A little tropheus. My buddy said its a Red Banded Tropheus, but i havent had much luck finding pics of what its gonna look like, and to me it looks like it could be yellow and not red, but its probably too young to tell. I dont know. I also got 2 synodontis to eat the hybrids shall they show up.

Right now i got too many in a 29 gallon. i was gonna go 75 gallon but one of the fish i got is a blue dolphin so i decided 125, but i will be moving myself within a year so i think i'm gonna go 55, and then when i move get the 125. Make my 29 shell dwellers or some other little schooling fish, the 55 into a species tank or probably smaller mbunas then the 125 can be done right as the centerpiece all male aquarium.

Anyway I want to start getting this all sorted out for the 55 and eventually 125, so What Fish should stay and what fish should go.

The 55 is like a stop gap so I'm not looking to have 2 species in there right now, but to get this going in the right direction, from what i read, the Kenyi, Bumble Bee, probably the Albino Zebras, the acei, and the Tropheus got to go for the sake of peace and fish lives. Is this correct. This would be fine with me because i like the Hongi, White top hara, Blue Dolphin alot more than the others. I guess I am just wondering if this line of thinking is correct? Can the Acei or Zebras be alright with the others? Any suggestions? Corrections? Comments?

thanks

I didnt really understand that...

Ok, get rid of the larger ones such as the Blue Dolphin because they will need a BIG tank fairly soon...

imagine what its like in my mind.

so 125 within a year wont be enough for him? Dang I like him.

Alright if my post was confusing, simple question wont the kenyi the bumble bee and the zebras be too aggressive for the rest once they get bigger?

I'd get rid of the bumblebee and kenyi for sure, they can get quite aggressive when larger...I'd also get rid of the dolphin since you won't be upgrading that soon. The rest should be fine though.

Keep the dolphin.. lol Clown bro comeon you are knowledgeable. You and I both know blue dolphins just like fronts have a very slow grow rate... He should be fine with that but yes get rid of bumblebee and kenyi. Kenyi's can get very aggressive if you get male and female :O

Thanks guys. Appreciate the feedback. That is pretty much what i was thinking as far as the fish that need to go. I am gonna keep the dolphin. I know people say 125 is the minimum for the dolphin and some of them say that really that is too small, but i think it will be fine. Everyone has seen two big Oscars in like a 40 gallon tank. A 125 isnt nearly as inhumane as that and I'll take good care of it. Now I just need to plan out right what other haps and peacocks will be going into the 125. mbunas are confusing enough with everything seeming to have at least 3 different names. This might sound like a dumb question. I am still figuring out this whole larger tank better filtration thing. Will a AC110 and a marineland 400 be enough for the 55? Thanks again
