what fish to put in planted tanks

i would loved to go for neon tetras ,
but its a buck each in my country , i owned 9 and 5 died, was thinking of something else ?
gimme a suggestion

Neons are the best lol. But you could have some smaller tetras....

These are nice imo. I have a small school of them in my tank.

Cardinal tetras have a bit more color and will school with your existing neons.

Cardinals are not as sturdy as neons, and if a dollar fish is a problem, just about everything else costs more, save the lowly feeder fish.

What size tank ????????????????

Tetras are a small "starter" fish........I am asumming the tank is between 20-55 gallons.........A tank filled with plants:

--->Cardnal Tetras fo their stronger colors, as compared to Neon Tetras........

--->Bumble Bee, or Pygmy Puffers for their "cuteness" and small size......

With bumblebee puffers come unusually fast growing teeth... Pygmy puffers could work though. Its always fun to look for them.

Go with some rainbows or congo tetras assuming the tank is big enough.

what size tank, what else is in the tank, what temp, etc....there are countless things but if $1/fish is too pricey, it might be hard to make suggestions.
