the title kinda sums it up, in a big enough tank, (37 gallons or a 40 breeder) what fish can live with convicts that wont eat their fry? i'm breeding for feeding so no fry goes to waste

Almost anything will eat fish fry if given the chance, and plecos have a habit of sometimes munching other eggs. It may be worth keeping the tank purely as a food factory without any risk of fry getting consumed. That's just my opinion, I'm sure members with a more intimate knowledge of cichlids will stop by soon!

Sp. pleco would work. They are opportunistic egg eaters though. Any fish that would be able to stand up to the convicts will eat the fry so a species tank might be the only option. For the fry to survive predation you would need to provide cover for them to hide in which would make removal for feeding problematic.

Fish eat other fish. It’s just the way it is.
The best way would be to raise the fry in a separate tank.
Even if you could keep other small fish In the tank without the convicts killing them, you will still lose fry to a guppy, if it get them.

You can try some shrimp that breed relatively quickly so you will have double the amount of feeders

some kind of non aggressive medium sized tetra might work, black skirt, bleeding heart etc.

Aggression doesn’t matter. We are talking predation.
These two thing really have nothing to do with each other.
A neon will eat a fry if it’s small enough and it can catch it.
