I know this is a dumb post but I'm just curious of what people keep with their flowerhorns.

I currently have a 5-6' Flowerhorn that is very aggressive. He's currently being housed with 3,2' black skirt tetras, 4, 3' gouramis, one 4' cichlid "forgot name" and one 2' columbian catfish. But, strangely the FH doesn't pick on any of the other fishes, maybe only during feeding time. I think the aggression is divided up or he doesn't feel threatened?

ive had 2 FH so far, one was 12" and my current is 5-6". neither of them got along with any mid or top level swimmer i tried.

they did however get on fine with bottom dwellers. neither of them ever paid any mind to my polys or clown loaches. Ive also seen some FH's with plecos in their tanks they dont bother i guess.

Just so you know columbian sharks are brackish water and really need to be kept that way or they will die at a really young age. Adult can even be put in a marine tank. Also there schooling fish and need to be in groups of 2 or more. I've had 2 in a 55 gallon for several years now.

My FH tolerated Clown Loaches when he was 3" but not for long. He's 13" now and attacks any hands or fingers that dare dip into his tank plus he'll tear himself up going after another fish. I had a Carpintis in with him until recently because the Carpintis was super fast (at 1st). The FH got ahold of him several times, after the last time I put the Carpintis in another tank.
Phobull, that's nuts to "hate" a fish because he's behaving the way he's bred to behave. FH's are aggressive, period. If people would stop trying to turn them into community fish and just adapt to their needs things would go perfectly smooth.

i keep my with gars /BGKF/RTC/Strriped raphl catfsh

10 inch FH w/ 10 inch GT, 5 inch FH, 6 inch Motoro ray, and 12inch pleco... He doesnt bother the ray and the other fish are just faster than him due to his big kok and drop tail. There are some tatered fins once in a while though...

I know that the columbian shark needs to be in salt water later on, I've done research on it. That's why im currently trying to sell the fish right now.

my fh is in with an oscar (12"), red devil (8"), johanniv(5"), 3 cons, and 2 firemouths. The fh is also about 8" and they are all in a 155 with no problems since i removed the male dempsey that beat the crap out of the fh the first time I tried to put him in the tank. So it is possible to have tank mates if the tank is big enough and the mates are equally or more aggressive.
