What floating plant is best

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I run a 40b with angels and plecos with a 306 canister. Tank has a thick layer of duckweed, angels never touch it.

The duckweek will eat all the nitrates in the tank. I have lots of plecos in my 55 it sits at about 5ppm now between water changes with 30% weekly.

I do like the look of duckweed but Idk if I want to add the aquarium herpes to my tank lol. And the flow from my ehiem 2262 would just thrash it against the glass

Its herpes for sure, and it will travel to other tanks.

As long as water isnt "splashing" or being drawn under like with a HOB it actually does quite well in flow.

Have a 206 on a 20L and it grew in the brackish water in there.

Water lettuce works great and is easy to deal with when it comes time to pull it out, but cichlids will eat the roots. Hornwort is fantastic also. I pull out huge amounts and throw it away all the time. It will regrow from just a tiny little piece.

I’ve used water lettuce, water sprite, frog bit, hornwort. Lots of stem plants will grow floating.
This was my 75 yesterday.

I removed most of it. I’m not sure what kind of stem plant this is. I got it from Dustins fish tanks . It was a stem sale got a mixed bunch of stems.D2932DC6-BB02-4A5B-98FE-FD0D9EDF46B4.jpeg
