what gar would be suitable for a 6x2x2 tank even if for only a couple of years cheers

Florida, spotted, shortnose, tropical could all reside in a 180g (basically the dimensions you have described) for a couple years. this of course assumes they are younger fish when you get them, and not 2' long specimens.--
