What happened to my pb?

hey everyone last night i was looking at my fish and everyone was fine then i noticed my little pb going crazy in the tank he was jolting around swimming upside down and running into things. he was fine then all of the sudden he is acting like this so i put him in my hospital tank and then he later died.... what do you guys think happened?

the water in my tank is perfect its a 125 gallon grow out tank
tank mates are:
2x jaguar cichlids both 1"
2x giant gouramis both 2"
1x clown loach 4"
1x tiger botia 4"
and my other small pb

I've had lil juveniles die like this too...did you look at his gills, was there any visible signs of anything weird?

he was flaring his gills when he was jerking around the tank

How long was he in that tank?

he was in a 75 gallon for almost 2-3 weeks then moved to the 125 for around 2 weeks

I just don`t know. Could be genetic, but sounds like his gills were bugging him. Though anything I have had croak that way always have the gills distended and mouth open when they die.

If you have magnification I`d look at the gills to see if there is anything abnormal.

As an after thought, I had a fish (don`t remember what it was) take a hit in the side that did enough internal damage to kill it. It lost it`s balance and lingered for a while then died. Almost no sign on the exterior of the fish.

What is your water parameters? Sounds like ph shock.
