What happens to a pump when....

ok .....

so, my wetdry is working fine.....there will be no spills if the pump dies....

but what happens if something clogs the intake and the sump runs out of water?

do mag pumps explode or something?

any info would be much appreciated.....
 
Thermal overload and you buy a new one if left long enough.

use a dry shut off switch of some sort to protect the pump
 
buy a float switch and hook it in series with the pump. Many kinds to choose from. then you will always be protected.
 
i agree w/ the float switches, there cheap, adjustable and they have them at most hardware stores.
