I noticed today that 3 of my guppies are staying on the bottom of the tank by one another and their eyes look weird like maybe they are bug eyed or something, they also keep opening there mouths alot. The other two guppies and the three leopard danios are fine. I made a small water change and added just a little aquarium salt. What could cause this? I lost my ammonia strips and that seem to not work right anyways and my new test kit I ordered has not come in yet.
I was woundering if you think that I should move the three to my 10 gallon that I just setup 2 days ago. I used different water in this tank so I am afraid that it may be to much for them.
I know they are only fancy guppies but I do not want them to suffer. When there maybe some how I can help.
thanks so much

I forgot to say that it was hot today and I could not get the water to cool down. Could that have something to do with it?
thanks

Yes it was hot today. Well the ability of water to hold dissolved oxygen goes down as the temperature goes up. What was the tanks temperature at? Try dropping an airstone in the tank or taking some water out so the filters return can agitate the waters surface. HTH.

or freeze so plastic bottols of water and let them float in the tank that will cool it down, and add an air stone.

What is an air stone? I put frozen bags of water in the water but the temp still read 84 and I am sure that it was hotter than that because it never did go down even with the frozen water bags and the temp strip only goes up to 84.
If it was caused by the temp how long would it take for them to go back to normal because they were still doing it last night when the tank was cooler.

I am not sure how hot the tank was for sure but in the room the temp was 99 or higher because when we put the new ac in the temp on it read 99.

Fancy guppies are very sensitive to sudden change of environment, e.g. temp, ph, ammonia, etc. If you said that you have just set up your tank, did you cycle you tank properly? Did you acclimatize the fancy guppies before you release them to your aquarium?

BTW, danios are very much hardier than fancy guppies.

My tank was setup about 5 weeks ago but I did not cycle it first but I believe that it has now cycled I will know for sure when I get my kit in.
But it very well could be ammonia so I am doing small water changes starting yesterday just in case. I have been changeing the water though.
I do have a 10 gallon that I am just now starting to cycle but there are no fish in it yet.
