Just got 6 red bellies. :) They are temperarily in a 20 gallon with powerhead and marineland 150 filter. They came all beaten up from fighting. I noticed one of them has a bulging POP-EYE!!! I have not dealt with this in a long a while and am not sure what to do. Could someone lend me a bit of advice in treating this condtion. Are there any miracle meds? Would Salt help at all in healing? Also, any idea on the cause of this?:irked: I tested my water and it is all good. I think it might of been caused by injury on a rock or excessive air bubbles from my powerhead. HELP!!!!

broad spectrum antibiotics combo maracyn and maracyn two or furan2 etc...

Will it's eye actually get better from antibiotics?:nilly: In two days it's eye got swollen and now has a white coat over it.:irked: I'd think that eventually it will just burst!!!:WHOA: I read that a option is rupturing the outer lens to release the pressure. Would this work? I am not expecting it to keep the infected eye, but I'd like to try help it. I"ll try the diffirent antibiotic treatments:).....I once had a piranha that lost a eye in a fight and was able to live a somewhat normal life. Would swim a little sideways, but otherwise normal:headbang2.... Has any one else had a one eyed piranha before????

Well, the little guy is officially half blind... Did not even get a chance to treat it's pop-eye. The 1 in. red had either scrape his eye on a rock or got it bitten off by a tankmate? Be aware that in a matter of three days, the fishes pop eye will likely be uncureable. My P is now isolated by itself... Now it's a matter of getting it to eat... Should Recover??????
