what hope have beginners got!

i was just looking at a new pirhana importer in the uk's website and saw that they had stingrays listed. what i read under the care section was shocking! what hope have beginners got when they are told stuff like this

quote "Minimum tank size An aquarium with at least 50 gallons of water, an exterior power filter with a BIO-Wheel, and a maximum of 1/4 inch of gravel."

i mean where do you start with how wrong that is!

no wonder you get people coming on here with ideas about keeping rays in small tanks. thank god they get on here and get given good advice(beit with different degrees of good nature)

Interesting point, but not surpirising. Someone at a maidenhead told me a motoro would be good for life in a 5ft x 1.5 ft wide tank!

it seems like places sell them as theres a decent profit margin on em, and people always buy em. Good jobs places like MFK + AC etc are here. Also is that your flowerray in your pic? if so very nice

Never trust the advice of someone that is trying to make a sale.Basic advice in any situation.Not everone is dishonest but the odds are not in your favor if the person that is "teaching" you is also trying to get money from you.
An internet forum is made up of people that are offering advice for thier own enjoyment and thier love of the subject at hand,whatever it may be.Your odds of being steered in the right direction increase.Certainly some less than stellar advice is sometimes offered so its often advisable to wait a while to see if an argument ensues over the information offered by the first responder or two.But thats the beauty of these forums lots of people want to help,and many actually give great advice.

yes it is, thanks for the complement. he is getting on 15" now and the claspers are just starting to grow(not curl). i put tahitian moon in the tank and he went dark within minutes!
