what if i have two canisters to filter a tank.. knowing that both canisters have 2 tubes, one going from the tank and then the return tube. so 2 canisters 4 tubes.. so my question is.. would it be possible to combine the two canisters into one? one tube coming from the tank and then split it into both canisters.. and then combining the 2 return tubes into one tube that goes back to the tank.

just curious and want to see if i go with canisters whether i can do it to reduce the amt of extras in the tank.

thanks

Thats a very interesting question.. Thinking about it is make my brain smoke :) I would think that if it was doable that you would need a larger tube coming out of the tank to a Y and then also the same from the canisters to the Y then a larger tube back in.. Though HHhhhmmmm.............???? Oh dang Overload LOL

Yea, you would need bigger tubes. For instance, if you have a one inch overflow that is split, the flow at the bulkhead is still the same for a one inch that is not spit. See what I mean, you would be better off with 4 tubes. Or you could yet a wet dry.

I really think that with two canisters you would have the advantage of placing them at either end, so your filters would be drawing water from both ends so you would have better coverage. I think that this would be more desirable then just one . I know the look of the pipes is not attractive but I think, I would put function over looks in this case.
