This guy(I'm fairly sure it's a male) is the only one that survived from the batch a pair had about three years ago. He's a punk from time to time but is currently in my 120 with a JD and a little con along with some silver dollars. He's been a challenge to find anything that can live with him. Finally decided last week I'm gonna save up for a 220 so I can mix in a few new things. Anyway thought I would share and figure out finally just what this guy is considered.

Yeah me too, a low grade one but i like the ones that look like this for some reason. You've done a good job raising him.

Whatever its considered, it looks awesome. looks like it had a lot of influence from the vieja(or is it paraneetroplus now?)
A different user called fishfreak had a similar looking BP/texas hybrid.

Thanks everyone. He's a real glass banger and can get nasty. Hopefully a6 foot tank will help that issue. I should love to breed him back to another red bp and see what happens. Thanks again for the compliments.

You may have to accept the fact that he might very likely be infertile. Don't mean to rain on your parade, but that is oftentimes the case with male 50/50 hybrids.

Whatever you call it he looks nice and chunky! IMO i would have never guessed parrot x texas, he looks vieja/middevil x texas. It really goes to show that with hybrids anything can happen.

Thanks again everyone. He's really the first fish I've raised from birth to adult and I've kept fish for ten years now. And yeah I realize he might end up being infertile. Would be awesome if I could get a spawn out of him though. Any guesses on his max size? The mom was a massive BP which I would consider to be of the "king kong" type size and variety. She was probably about 7" when she died. The dad was a Tex so little mystery there. Currently I would guess that he's about 10". Hogs every bit of food that hits the water.
