My LFS has a dozen or so Dragon Fish for 9.99, they are about 12". I have a 12" Senegal and 13" Endli. Will he be a nice addition or not. Cant find alot of info on him.

I guess...I know nothing of him...a good tank mate?

They do get up to a foot long and can be very shy when not in groups. They do have big mouths and are capable of eating small fish. They love blood worms too. Iv had two and each time couldnt get them to eat at all so be careful, I got them from wal mart so that probably explains it :( Very neat fish though ^-^ You might have luck finding more information by searching under violet goby or dragon goby.

Violet gobies are brackish water fish. There are so many myths online about these fish but the truth is they can live for a little while in freshwater but dont expect him to live over 6 months. They eventually develop red tumors from the lack of salts.
Violet gobies are nearly blind but a cool filter feeding gobys. They do love bloodworms and they look amazing when they swim.

Their mouths are big however their throats are very small. They wont eat other fish. But are very docile and are very incapable of defending themselves. they usually eat by sifting through the sand. Search under those names and u'll be fine!!!!

Mine was kept as the only bottom dweller for months and ahead of me getting him, he seemed to be the only bottom dweller in that tank as well. He was a big baby and used to get picked on by my angel. Once I put him in a 33 Long, I added two new dragon gobys and he became territorial and would even bite the other two when they touched him. He also became territorial to my Morgurnda (Although, I think he was just trying to teach the morgurnda not to mess with him ahead of time). He ended up getting used to the fish and now he is fine with my G. Tile.

They are much better off with a sand/bare bottom substrate so they can filter feed. Most of the food falls between rock substrate and they will become malnourished. Mine eats mostly blood/black/glass worms and algae wafters. It is interesting to see him suck up the algae wafer in front of his mouth and filter feed lol.

Ive heard an asian arowana(maybe not asian) be called a dragon fish before.. but i assume a goby if its salt
