what is a growth stunt?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
it means the fish can no longer reach it's maximum potential.

basically the fish has no room to grow muscle development and even bone structure become stunted which often results in the fish looking or having physical abnormalities wether its just short and fat or has spinal curvature and these are just some of the many symptoms

so would the fish just be fat or a little curved not something hideous

well depending on the size of fish and tank but yeah slight to drastic curvature or fat and muscle underdevelopment mostly not to mention your making the fish suffer its like sticking you in a 4 by 3 cell when your 6 feet and telling you to sleep on the floor its just not possible for you to lie straight right thats how fish feels his whole life

to me a fish with any kind of sign of stunting is hideous i like to resemble they natural environment and give them as much swimming room as possible i think anyone on here would agree with me on this

its because i bought 6 common plecos when i just started the hobby and didnt know that they can get up to 2 feet long now i have no idea what to do with them and i reallyy like them but i dont want them to suffer and i dont have enough money or room to keep them any suggestions?

Move them to a large pond (making sure it is not connected to natural waterways) or give them to someone else who can accommodate them properly.
