What is a Papyrocrannus afer

it is sometimes refered to the Marble Knife Fish...it is african..I believe..i cannot find info or photos on it anywhere..no word on behavior, max size or anything...

Any one know anything about this guy?

They are known as the Marbled Knife. Here is a site with some info. Very large and aggressive species of Knife.

they are also called reticulate knife fish and pom pom. they can live for 15 years. grow to 80 cm and are aggressive. much like the ck. they are also available in a golden form often called albino.

Cool fish, looks like a cross between a Clown knife and a Silver aro,

I have the slightly smaller but patternless P. congoensis. It's taken a year, but it eats pellets off the surface. Really aggressive with similar looking fish.

They don't swim like most knife fish, they swim more like an eel. Real aggressive but they are cool.

Thanks guys. They would seem to go great with a monster african tank, like and african aro, with some monster african catfish and polys.

I've actually never seen a big one. My largest, before death-by-leaping, was about 10".
