I saw one at an aquarium the other day and im thinking about getting it. Im pretty sure its xanthic because its all white with a little bit of black on some spots. I dont know how to distinguish the subspecies in the amphilophus genus but it doesnt quite look like a red devil so im pretty sure its legit. Please give me some info cuz im thinking about temporarily putting it with my jaguar for a few weeks maybe a month

They are a more elongated, predatory looking fish than labiatum. The mouth is elongated but not shaped quite the same as a lab; they have what I would describe as a horse face. They are very graceful in the aquarium IMO- long trailers on the fins and a very athletic build. I'll see if I can find old pics.
How big is the fish in question?

Here is a pic of a barred one

And a one yellowish in color

Very nice addition to any large aquarium.
