What is the best sand substrate for rays? also how many inches is best for them and whats the best filtration for them. I know they need to have a heater gaurded or in a sump.

I find a thin layer of sand is nice (like 1/8"). Its not thick enough to trap detris and the rays clean the sand when swimming over it. Anything thicker and it will hold alot of waste and is just a pain to clean IMO

also what are these type of sand I saw in the gallery section. and are they good?

I use a mix of black Estes (which most ray keepers recommend and I'm assuming that leo is on) and Tahetian Moon sand

otherwise 3m's quartz s or t grade would work, its a very fine gravel witch is basicly sand, but it doesnt stick to rays as much as regular sand does, they have lots of different colors

about a inch.... wetdry sumps are the best and i keep stealth heaters in my ray tank with no gaurds or problems
