Just wondering whats eheims equivalent to the fx6 and which brand of filtration is best and why? I know there is controversy over the two brands just don't know what or why.

equivalent is eheim 2262.

AND....PetSmart.com was running a nice sale on them a few days ago,not sure if it is over or not.

2262 might be equivalent price wise but not when comparing which one functions better

Id go for the 2262 the 3 I have are the best canisters I've ever owned

One thing that you should know is the fx6 hold I think about 6 L of media the 2260 or 2262 holds 18L

I've never run fx5-6. Love the ease of maintenance on my 2262, & the bottom valve is nice for flushing the canister between cleanings and helps drain tank for water changes. I waited for sale prices, as they are more expensive.
Christmas sales were almost half price, IIRC.

2262 might be equivalent price wise ...............
"the equivalent" is not talking about price at all. that is referring to the approx gallons of filtration equivalency.

The Fluval has the pump on the bottom. If some sand gets in the cannister, where does it go. Yes, the bottom. When sand gets in an impeller well what happens. Yes, it locks up. The Eheim's have the pump on top. The smaller series pumps have the pump up top so don't have that problem.
KRich, the sale ended Sunday at midnight. I got 2! They still have a fantastic price online. Under $300 landed on your porch.

Ok so the 2262 is by far better ??? also is it ok if I put the filter on the side of the tank like the direct left side or will it mess it up ?? And finally the canister looks like this correct just so I'm not buying the wrong one. I really hope its as good as proclaimed :)
