My JD got this weird cottony growth stuff on her and thes one spit formed the border of a triangle (it was just the outline so the inside was healthy tissue). Everything else cleared up with medication and then big water changes but this spot refused to get better. It recently started what i thought was clearing up. It actually had eaten all the way through her gill cover and is now coming off like a scab. It is like seventy five percent off and its just flapping around. But now she has a good .25" hole in her gill cover and her gills are completely exposed now. Will it grow back or will the hole remain? Is she going to die? I really can't afford anymore medicine so I have been doing big water changes. I have a good amount of aquarium salt left so I could use it although I was saving it for an outbreak on all the fish if something were to happen. I have an 85 gallon tank. What do you think it is and what will happen to her?
