Hi everyone! I just wanted to know, since Im new to all this, what is an overflow, wet/dryfilter? Are they the same thing? I going to get a 125 or higher maybe gallon tank soon so i wanted a good filtration unit.:) Im going for freshwater. :headbang2

From many people's reviews, the wet/dry filter seems to be on top, if im not wrong.
Ive seen pictures of tanks with all these kinds of tubes, and connectors and it looks very complicated to me. :nilly: PLus, they drill holes into the tank??? Please explain.

Thanks everyone! :grinno:

The overflow is part of the wet/dry sump system. You can save big bucks by building your own w/d sump. do a search in the DIY section. Most the parts are at office depot and home depot. fill with pot scrubbers from the dollar store.

Basic w/d system consist of overflow, sump, return pump.

If your are looking into buying a brand new aquarium, you can get them with built in overflows. that is where the drilled holes come in. You can get a "Hang on Back" overflow which works off of a siphon, so you don't have to drill holes in the tank.
