i'm pretttty sure this is a protein skimmer, if you didnt already know

Don't worry about using it on freshwater. It's not necessary and doesn't benefit enough to hassle with it. It's worth something, but I'm not sure what. I would take a pic of it to the LFS and see how much store credit you can get

agreed, i used it on my 120gallon but i wouldnt go thru the hassel of putting one on any of my fw tanks again.

Save it for your pond, it's good with high amounts of dissolved organics.
