Sea dragon, endangered and protected, dammit. I want one, they get quite large, some types to 20".

Yes, they are fully marine and are close relatives of the seahorse. However, there are fully FW pipefish in Africa and Asia, and even brackish water species here in the US!

i thought they are a type of pipefish, related to seahorses.... have seen em called seadragons before...

I was recently at chicago's Shedd aquarium and they had a tank setup with those guys in there with some other types of sargassum (floating matts of plants) inhabitants. The tanks were cylinders about 4' w x 8' t. It had a powerhead system so that the sargassum just kept spinning in a free float. VERY COOL!

They have an exihibit with just sea horses at the Omaha Henry Doorly Zoo in Nebraska...great zoo..second in the nation...highly recommend it!! The aquairum is PIMP!! so is the indoor jungle...but i digress. Anyway, they have sea dragons in there...and they are awesome looking! They also have nautilus...but they are pretty boring, just sit there and do nothing...kewl lookin though. I have to say theone of the kewlest SW fish i have ever seen for sale at a LFS was in Kennewick, Washington...at LivingWorld (just givin yaz Washingtonians a heads up...hehe..great pet store). They had a PineCone fish for sale!! LOL!! And he had had it for over 6 months so it was doing great!! If i had a SW tank i woulda grabbed it! Pimpin little fish!
