I would actually agree. There definitely seems to be some Texa/Carpinte in there. Good looking fish by the way.

i bought two texases a while back and looked pretty similar to this. my only other guess would be a JD with something tht had a more pointy head in youth.

Yeah or maybe even demspey instead of a texas? The spangly bits look more jd and it seems like it has red tips on fins like a jd. I guess that could of come from a flowerhorn like he was told though too.
