Ok, I have a 300 gallon outdoor pond. My idea was to make it a native pond. I started by adding guppies and gold fish. They did great for a few months, then i went fishing and caught a shiner that I took home. Within a few days I could tell the fish wasnt doing well. It just stayed at the bottom and developed white stuff all over its body. I wish I took pictures but I didnt.... Anyways, once I noticed the white stuff on the fish it was dead the next day. Within a couple days every goldfish and koi in my pond died.... The only fish left were the guppies, that are thriving.

I waited a couple weeks then I went fishing yesterday and caught a bluegill. I just noticed tonight he is developing the same white stuff on his body... What is this??? How can I treat my pond. I have seen ick before and this may be different. It almost looks like their scales are falling off. Any help would be great, what should I do?

Thanks,

Dan

Also, I just bought some Rid ich plus. Says it controls Ich and protozoan or fungal external diseases. I am going to give it a shot. What do you think?

I'm putting my money on velvet, its known to take out fishes in hours to a few days - whacks em. The white stuff is the slime coat/mucous response to the increased parasites and in advance stages the skin peels off. I hope you have enough Rid Ich...cupramines a good one too.
