What is my channa's species???

This is my very first channa and I hope experience channa keeper can help me with these issues.
I've just bought a channa few days ago and I'm not sure what is its species, its written gerik maru I've done some research and I think it is a Channa Marulioides, hopefully anyone that know can identify it for me. Thanks
Another question, the channa is quite pale, usually on tank bottom and not really interactive(but it ate some koi), can anyone tell me is it normal for channa to exhibit this behavior???

Baby marulioides. Marulius is more slender when young

He's probably shy because it's still young. They stay with their parents and in a school of fry until easily 2-3 inches. It will quickly grow confidence as it gets bigger.
