What is needed??

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
if it is a native tank i wouldnt really worry about that..if you can just take the ph of the lake or pond that u get them from and that would give you a rough idea of wat to do but id say anywhere from 6.5-7.5 would be good

Sunfish are easy to keep but aggresive, bass are also pretty easy but grow very large, I don't suggest them for anything except maybe a 6 foot tank. They are pretty adaptable fish and can probably adapt to any pH you supply them with but avoid extream highs and lows, also make sure it is consistant. I wrote an article about sunfish (bass included) and it's a sticky right here in the native forum, it should answer your questions.

Dovii88, I hate to bring it up but your sig really bothers me, I am pretty sure the dovii has more than two predators. Central America is home to a lot of reptiles, mammals and birds that are more than able to kill a dovii. ;)

I keep my LMB in water 72-74 deg F, although they are fine colder than that. They will also live in warmer water, but they get spastic. The pH can vary between 6.5-7.5 and if you get one, I recommend you get a fry, as they will not need to adapt to tank life really. I feed mine Omega, Cichlid Gold, krill, ghost shrimp, and the occasional feeder.
