What is on this crays carapace? ( Pic )

I got 2 feeder crays an one of them has what look like little white hairs on the carapace. Are they worms? Will it be bad for the turtle tank? Will be bad for the turtle?

I took the cray with the things growing in it to my LFS, not the one I got them at, an the owner said he is pretty sure they are a parasite of some kind. Didn't know if they would be bad for the tank/turtle. We put'em down.

Next time, you might try treating it before putting it down. Lots of creatures have parasites. A simple dip, dose, or medication usually clears it up.
