First time i have ever seen a sting ray available in one of my local LFS stores.. small about the size of a dessert dish.. 6 inches.. for $60.00 .. is that a good price.. i am not ready to purchase one since i have alot to learn about them.. but just seeking info for near future..

yeah, cant really accurately answer unless we know what kind it was.

either way, i would pay 60$ for any species of ray around here. as long as it wasnt salt.

Another question too..since i am total beginner with rays...are they hard to keep... i mean is it more of a risk with rays... i hate losing anything... especially if i can help it.. thanks for replys..

Rays are not hard as long as you are a dedicated fish junkie and you have the right equipment. They produce an extreme amount of ammonia so go big on biological filtration. Once settled in and eating, they are hardy. Bad water and stress will kill them just like any other fish.

LOL Liz seems like we're both starting out with Rays at the same time. Got my first motoro ray this week. its kinda strange. its eating the small snails in the holding tank.

Liz this is an addiction unlike any other:) If the ray is eating and not too skinny and show's no sign of fungus or injury at the store I say get it. (you want to see it eating there before purchase) I bought two a while back and lost one because I was'nt up to snuff on my knowledge and purchased a sick ray. There is a ton of info in the stingray forum about purchasing and keeping ray's. I'm sure you'll find everything you need to know soon enough and have one before we know it. Pic's Pic's Pic's...

Thank you everyone.. i noticed it there..looked at hubby and his remark was they are too hard to keep.. so i knew the answer at that moment was negative... and being i did not prepare for it or even think too much about getting any i did not do my homework... but since i saw one..i will get more info and learn because it was sweet to see in person.. if i go back soon i will find out species... and maybe ask them more and see it eat... of course thats if ...it is still there.. the guy that used to be there was a knowledgable guy...now mostly kids.. so i do not know how much they know...i appreciate all info received.. thanks again

Liz... its all with KISS.... same you do with all your fish... good foods and clean water :) you could buy one and keep it thriving i know that :)
