Are there any test kits that I can use over and over without throwing away anything or having to buy new packs of strips again and again? Like a "permanent" test kit? For ammonia etc.

Thanks!!

API liquid tests are pretty good and last quite a while. I don't even buy them that often, and I test bi-weekly to weekly, on seven different tanks/pond. I recommend them. They're also more accurate than strips.

Sounds good.. but are there any testing mediums where I can keep forever (i.e. a really long time) and not throw out? If not, I'll probably go with that one.

there are electronic meters available that measure KH, GH, PH, TDS. i don't know about ammonia....

i would just stick to the API master kit.. its liquid tests, no strips. the liquids last a while.

The meters are extremely expensive, and all still include parts that need to be replaced, like probes or cuvettes, or reagents that have to be replaced, or whatever. They sell them on Drs. Foster and Smith. I've been looking at the Nitrate one. They are not cost-effective per test, but if you're really trying to achieve the most accurate results, I guess they'd be what you'd go for.
