I'm setting up a new 55 gal. tank and I'm shopping around for the best heater with a great price and quality. I've narrowed it down to Eheim Ebo Jager 200W vs. Viaaqua Titanium 200W. Could you fellow MFKers help me decide which one I should choose. Please give input based on your actuall experience and knowledge rather than hear say. I want to get this right the first time. Eventually i'm thinking about getting a JBJ true temp titanium filter with digital LED Real time temp. I think that will be the last heater I will ever need for one set-up. Thanks in advance. All input is much apreciated.

Best heater I have ever had, was a cheap O' RENA 250W heater from pets mart. Dont know if they make them anymore but that thing has been more stable and lasted longer than any other heater I have tried, includeing marineland, Ebo Jager and fluval. Maybe it was a fluke but a welcomed fluke.

I have a Rena, hydor, aqueon and 2 ebo jagers. Ive had the Rena the longest, but the thermostat is a little off. The jagers seem to be the most accurate. Hydor thermostat is off by about 12 degrees.... Total pos

If I had it to do all over again, I'd get a Rena or a jäger

I have a hydor eth 300 inliner heater love it. I've had it around 3 or 4 months seems to work great also have a rena smart heater

I second that, although hooking them inline is a PITA. I like that some canisters now include heaters in them. That's the way it should be.

I am deeply in love with my Hydor ETH 300watter.

Ebo Jager. Have some over 10 years old and still cranking. I just tossed about 15 other heaters because they are old and been unused for at least a few years and I just don't trust them. I would never toss a Ebo Jager based on age alone. Would have to know for sure it didn't work or cracked.

I would never want my heater built into my canister. If the heater fails, then I'm down a filter at the same time.
