hello again guys,

I am sure that this subject has been brought up over and over again. And i appologize for that, If you have any links saved for easy veiwing please feel free to copy paste for me. With all that said. I am about to order the light system for red texas tank im setting up. I have owned a couple different large midas from rapps never a f.h or red texas and just would like your advice on what light spectrum they prefer specificaully for comfortability for them, and to show there best colors. Thanks for your time.

Jeff

thanks for the reply. I guess i worded what i am asking wrong. I mean as far as bulbs and fixtures as in regular florecent, or t5 6500 - 10000k, single tube, double tube. how many watts ect. makes sence in my brain atleast ya know. thanks again. Off topic i like the glasses people are to ashamed these days. Allso dont want to get off the track of lighting to talk set up. But this is a 65 36x18x25 blue painted back ground solo tank. Allso i on a 250 lighting budget for this build if any one would like to suggest a specific light. And i know this should be in the set up and filtration section. i would rather ask the F.H exsperts if mod feels it should be moved feel free.

I use T5 6500k watts. Double tube. IMO, It doesn't matter about the amount of bulbs you have, as long as the color spectrum compliments your fish, thats all that matters. As for filtration, the bigger the filtration, the better. You could run a couple canisters or invest in a wet/dry.

thanks for the lighting tip. That is pretty much what i was going to order is a double tube 6500k white lighting. That set up i have all the parts for allready. one eheim pro 3 g160 2075 with inline 300 watt heat hydor heater. and 2 ac110s problaully only going to use one of the ac's thanks for your input on the light. Again not trying to talk to much set up in this thread besides lighting.

well thanks water for giving me your insight i now that you had or still had a red texas. i just ordered a the 24-36 in marineland reef capable led for this tank. ordered the 24 because i want lower lighting in the corners and bright in the middle and give me more option in case i want to hang the 2 ac110's on the sides like i think im going to atleast one. Then i will just cut my own lids. Thanks again. this tank will be posted in about three weeks when its up and cycled and the r.d gets suddled in. Thanks again for your time. and it will deffenitly be in the running for most over filtered tank on mfk. Just ordered a new fx5 tonight, i have the eheim 2075 if i can figure out how to run it properly thing is a pain in my a-s. And i got the 2 ac110's only probaully going to run 1 strickly for water polishing with have a sponge, a bag of purgin, a bag of crushed coral for p.h and a couple ching mix mineral stones in the ac. Thanks again for your time.

Sounds good. You just reminded me how much I regret selling my old RT..
Im sure it does get to you at some points well if you are any thing like me atleast. I only have fish species that i absolutly love, or wanted for a long time before taking them on. I just moved back to n.h a few months ago from s.c i had to get rid of all my tanks and all my fish and really pis-sed me off. The only fish i kept was my 8 inch midas from rapps, and his 75. I had him today aired to n.h from s.c he arrived about 2 hours after i did to the state. And the tank was the first thing in the house and set up. Couldnt get rid of him i love the fish. Thanks again for your input and have a good one.

mod feel free to close this thread

I really like using a tanning light and white light (same time) on show piecesI have bred RT for years and I am still REALLY torn between light and substrate....I have had a few I kept with dark background and substrate that looked great yet other times would make them almost white until I changed the substrate back to natural. Others Look fantastic in a dark tank.

Sorry for the rambling on....have the flu right now =(

Lighting is allways my biggest issue when setting up new tanks for sure. Never deciding which way i wanta go. Like my top post said after much considering all options i decied to go with the 24 inch exstendable to 36 inch marineland led reef capable module. 10,000k white leds with the blue leds. Only thing im not happy about with this fixture is that you cant run the white with out the blue moons on allso. We will c with in a week when i recieve the package. I havent bought any of the new quilty leds yet so this is a trial. If im not happy with it i will just use these for a shallow 45 gallon breeder simple mini reef i wanta do. Will be more on this tank set up soon will be all set up and cycling in a few days minus the lights which will be the last thing i get in. New thread in a couple weeks with it set when r.t settles in.
