what is the best media

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Though this tank was already cycled and running :screwy: What filtration do you have on it now?

For the Biomedia is this sump a wet/dry trickle filter or will the media submerged? Would need to know the design of the sump to recommend mechanical filtration. Do you have the sump yet or are you building or buying?

If the sump is going to be a wet/dry then bioballs. And space remaining in the wet/dry I would go with ceramic rings or something.

My W/D sump has filter wool and japanese mats in the first compartment for mechanical. The submerged portions are filled with mixture of ceramics, susbtrat pro and matrix. trickle section with bioballs and final chamber with coral for pH buffer.

keeping 1 aro, 12 parrots, tigrinus, siamese tiger and flagtail in a 250gal

hope this helps
