my top is a rhino pleco, because there armored, lively, grow a foot and eat meat veggie and algae. cause i like the big meat eaters. if i had vieja or other veggie eaters then sailfin pleco, commons are cool best of both worlds gets big though.
A lot of this depends on the size of the tank and/or fish. Some CA's will not tolerate any Plecos (large or small). BNP's are great because they do a better job of cleaning algae, plus they stay pretty small. However, if they're being housed with large/aggressive CA's, they often get bullied/chewed to the point of death. I'm currently trying to re-home a 5" BNP who's getting hammered by my 7" MiDevil.
Interesting enough, a lot of large Cichlids could care less about a Pleco being in the tank. I've never had problems housing Plecos with Oscars, JD's, Cons, Texas, Salvini, GT's, etc. The only genus I've had problems with are those from the Amphilophus family.
