what is the best sand i can use fro freshwater

i am thinking of changing my gravel to sand,what is the sand type that i need,i got a 5 gallon and a betta

i use pool filter sand. comes very clean and is whiter than playsand.

I bought a 70lb bag of safety sand for $4 because they didn't have pool filter sand...the kind used for getting traction with trucks. It took forever to clean but it works, its not white though.

I purchased some fine black sand and set the kids up a 10 gallon today, which will double as a medical tank for my 75 gallon (yes MTS is setting in lol). You can go with black sand (you will only need 2 small bags @ 5 dollars a bag). Then get some black background poster and run some blue floresense lights (I am running one floresense one normal in these pictures). Black with good lighting will really bring out that betta's color.

You can also plant in the sand, if you wanted to throw in a small plant or 2 later on.
