So far I've just been using hot water but when I scrub too hard I end up pulling them out of the base or breaking the leaves off. I've always used live plants and have never really had to mess with the plastic crap before- my work is really into them though.--- Anyone have a better way to clean fake stupid looking plants? The black algae ends up owning it.

Hot water and vinegar is what I use. I soak them while I siphon the tank. By the time I'm done and ready to start filling I can just run a scrub brush over them and rinse. I hate plastic plants, but this works to get them clean. Lol

Vinegar is also handy to get rid of hard water or salt spots. I use it for my lids and outside of the glass panels where water really likes to drip.

Same here. I use it to clean my glass tops too. I like my tanks filled to the top so the bubblers always splash water on the tops.
I use it for pretty much everything. Lol
