I was told bioballs are no good for saltwater. So what is the best way. i have a 75gal for the sump. I was going to use 1st chamber for the drain and skimmer, then the next for bio balls or something else. But what else should I use instead of bioballs. then a bubble trap and then the return.

Any thoughts

Thanks

Here is how i would set it up. You would use the ball valves on the intake lines to adjust the flow through the refugium (the right side) to about 1 to 1.5x's your tanks volume a hour.. You want the rest to flow through your skimmer side (left side) The power head in the refuge is optional but if you get the cheato to tumble in there it will grow much faster! (therefore taking out more nitrates and phosphates from the water) I forgot to put it in the pic but the cheato needs a source of light, nothing to special a cheap PC fixture would be more then enough.. On the left side you can use the height of the first and third piece of glass to get the water height that is best for your skimmer. on the refuge side its best to have as much volume as possible..
Hope this helps and i hope i didnt miss anything.
