hey everyone, sooo i am starting to look for the fish i want for my new world cichlid setup and was wondering where is the best place to order new world cichlids from, in america pls. i am looking for green texas, green terror, salvini, and (not cichlids but i am looking for them:D) pictus pim cats, banded leoporinus, and banjo catfish. thnx

yeah tangled up in cichlids is a great site and he usually has carpintis escondidos in stock, should have the other fish you want in stock as well, but as for the pictus why dont you just get them locally? pretty much every pet store carries them and it would be cheaper and less stressful for the fish to not have to ship them (also not sure on how easy they would be to ship since they can very easily pop any bags they would be shipped in when stressed)

Other then the banjo cat all of those fish are very common. YOu should be able to check out all of you local fish stores and find most of them much cheaper then you could order them.

other than the GT, it really depends on your area which fish are "common" or not, i only have chain pet stores around me and they never carry carpintis or salvini :( but yeah i agree, OP should look around locally first and see what is available unless you are trying to get wild caught or F1 fish or something (which still doesn't apply to the pictus since they aren't commonly bred anyways)

ok thanks i know they are common except the banjo and i can't find anyone who carries salvini. also i was looking for some cool color morphs in particular: gold seam gter, escondido gtex. and i did find pictus but no one has them in the quantitiy i want and also i found a website with banjos but they only had adults and i am looking for babies. thnx

how many are you wanting? in a 125 i wouldnt put more than 5 IMO, and if you still have that red belly pacu in your sig then i would look into rehoming it because they need a massive tank or pond to be comfortable these guys get over two feet long and just as high, they are def not for the regular hobbyist

the rbp is going next month, the guy i am giving him to is preparing to recieve him. and i was looking for 5 anyway. so does anyone know where i can find gold seam green terrors?

every petco and petsmart should carry them, just look for the one with the most design within its unpaired fins and most metallic body color to get a nice male (though it wont really show this if its really small) also when small it will look like they are silver saums but it will actually turn to gold once they get a little bigger

ok thanks, so to get a male pictus i look for a design between the pelvic fins? can you pls expain in detial? i had a breeding pair before in a 30 but i could never tell which was the male and which was the female, and then my ck runt ate the babies :( ok so the gter looks silver seam until it ages... in that case i will just go with normal gter. and i don't buy from petsmart or petco. i bought a angelfish from them and it brought some sort of parasite into my tank that killed my 7 year old breeding pair of pictus and over 100$ in other star show fish. thnx
