P Bass dark or bare. Cichlid....totally depends on the fish. My Festae (avatar)Jag and JD looked super dark over dark substrate. They are much brighter over sand.....

I mix black moon sand and white aragonite sand to get a nice blend of both, not too harsh and not too dark. Has worked well so far.
