If I'm mounting in an upright position, what is the correct way? Should I follow this diagram?

I could post some photos of mine but remember you can mount it horizontally and with both intake and outlet pointing in the same direction as well. Its actually pretty easy just make sure you use a good adjustable pump. I used an ac50 powerhead it matches up well the 5/8 with the nipples on the UV being able to reduce from the factory parts to a 5/8

:iagree:True, will work fine.
After some experimentation, I now have my UV set up as a HOB/UV. Small pond pump, tubing, and some CPVC let me move the thing from tank to tank.
I do not run it 24/7 on any single tank, but move it around on a rotating schedule..
48hrs per tank, per month is working for me.
Butt ugly on the living room tank, but for the, fish floating in air look, this unit gives, it is worth it

If you are mounting it vertically like in the picture keep in mind that it will be increasing your head pressure so make sure that your pump / filter is able to handle it.

mine is set up as so but it runs 24/7 its hooked to a power head and uses black hose. The only unsightly aspect is the large pre filter that the aqua clear power heads use. ;)
