Well it has been about 3 weeks maybe a little more since I have fed Loki (my pbass) feeders. He wont even go after shrimp, yet he will hit algae wafers for FS.

every single one of my other fish eat shrimp... all my dats, both red tail payara, marbled sleeper goby; heck even my red hooks eat shrimp. I tried the trick in the sticky and that didnt work.

should I just continue to starve him? he is roughly 6-7"...

3 weeks is a long time, id keep feeding feeders till he hits at least 8" then try other dead foods like white bait/silver sides, smelt try throwing them against the current of your powerhead if you have..

I agree, you dont want to starve a young Pbass that long. Feed it whatever it will eat. You risk stunting it. In some cases asking a fish to eat prep food is like asking you to fly. Its not their natural instinct to eat dead things. Ive got one fish that refuses to eat prep food, and every other fish in the tank takes it no problem. Some fish just dont get it.

i had great success with dieselmack's sticky about feeding. my first cichla would only eat feeders. when he got to the point that he waited at the surface for me to drop a feeder, i started dropping pieces of shrimp. of course, he would spit them out at first but eventually he got to the point where he loves shrimp.

now i dont even think he remembers what feeders taste like. all this happened in about two weeks! just give him what he wants right now, and every now and then drop in some shrimp. eventually he'll get off the feeders

ok so feeders it is. he would hit the algae wafers but spit them out.
