A trimac is the original fish, a flowerhorn is a hybrid that is a cross breed of trimac and other cichlid
trimac is just one of the several cichlids used to make flowerhorns, different strains incorporate different amounts of each fish, zz or zhen zou have alot of trimac blood thus low grades often look alot like trimacs
there are a couple differences we can note here.
trimacs don't have flowerlines. (flowerline is when there is so many plums that they form a line of sorts)
trimacs also do not have the red throat area go much farther then the throat area. (meaning on macs the red don't go through the whole fish)
trimacs do not have pearls. (the shiny blue/gold/white specs on the fish that appear to be spots)

Trimac is an actual strain of Amphilophus. FH is a man made strain by crossbreeding several diff species. Trimac is one of
the main fish in a FH though,..the rest, your guess is as good
